Youth Jazz Ensemble

Youth Jazz Ensemble is ideal for young people who are intermediate and advanced, this group is for players of approximately Grade 4 and above standard.

If you don’t have your own instrument, please contact the Music Hub regarding hiring an instrument to use for the ensemble and to enable practice opportunities at home. Students will learn music reflecting the wide range of Jazz styles, with emphasis placed on good ensemble playing and improvisation. The student will gain an understanding of elements of improvisation, develop good ensemble skills, aural ability, and through the improvisation element a deeper knowledge of functional harmony.
